What does P2V offer?

Our workshop enables musicians of all ages and skill levels to make music together virtually. It offers specific problem-solving techniques as well as wellness training that focuses on the often-neglected collaborative, teamwork aspects of ensemble music.

How is P2V similar to a traditional chamber music workshop?

Like a traditional chamber music workshop, we will place participants in groups based on age and interests.  The chamber groups will praactice their parts, rehearse together, receive feedback from coaches, and have the option to share their music with others. 

How is P2V different from a traditional chamber music workshop?

Unlike a traditional chamber music workshop, we will be taking the participants through a sequential method to learning ensemble music. The system allows students to move at their own pace through a step-by-step process, resulting in a thorough, comprehensive understanding of the music. The workshop combines synchronous and asynchronous learning with individual and group score study as well as individual and group feedback from coaches embedded in the process. 

Is P2V 100% online?

Yes, P2V is all online but our hope is that the system will continue to be used by students after the workshop to work online, in hybrid environments, and as a supplement to in-person learning. 

Is P2V geared towards particular ages or levels?

Anyone from beginners to professionals and young to old can come.  We recommend this program for 11 years old and older but have had younger participants.  If your child is under 11, you must be present throughout the workshop to work with them.

What are the technical requirements to attend P2V?

How and why did you create P2V?

The Bayberry String Quartet (BSQ) has been rehearsing remotely for two years due to the members living in different locations. When the pandemic reached the United States, the quartet teamed up with Education for Happiness to create a virtual curriculum for PhoenixPhest!, an annual summer chamber music festival. Creating the virtual curriculum took months of planning as well as two pilot workshops where 16 different chamber groups of different ages and levels tested the materials. Once it became clear that the method achieved positive outcomes, and in seeing the overwhelming need for online ensemble music-making, the quartet decided to disseminate its approach.
