EFH Chamber Music Workshop (Ann Arbor)

Description

Education for Happiness Chamber Music Workshop is a unique chamber music workshop built on the principles Gabe Bolkosky developed at PhoenixPhest! Chamber Music Festival for over 20 years. Our philosophy focuses on the entire person, fostering splendid qualities and co-creation. We emphasize becoming a responsible member of a team, learning to rely on one another and understanding the value of collaboration.

Our philosophy is a natural extension of the Suzuki curriculum. While Suzuki group classes emphasize (among other things) the ability to play in a large group and follow a leader, there comes a time when growing musicians need to take the next step. Learning to play chamber music is a critical part of creating noble people. Our goal is to train a person from the moment they decide to be in a group, through performance and beyond. This includes how to prepare for meetings with other people, how to behave in rehearsals, how to practice together, how to BE together — all within an intensive musical experience. The end result is people who are both compassionate and highly skilled. People who can change the world.
